A common mistake when it comes to Commercial Carpet Cleaning

Failure to have in place a carpet maintenance program

Commercial Carpet Cleaning – qualified experts know a proper carpet care program extends the useful life of the carpet while maintaining a high appearance level, reducing water usage and dumping of chemicals.

A properly maintained carpet reduces indoor pollutants and allergens because of its particle trapping effect.

Lastly, a properly maintained carpet reduces overall costs of operation.

Commercial carpet cleaning companies who do not implement cleaning programs or use incorrect cleaning equipment appear to do so for two main reasons: budget constraints and poor cleaning knowledge.

Companies who just surface clean with ‘suction-only’ vacuum cleaners perform a grave disservice to their customers

Working with a cleaning budget?

SEBO Dart 2 Upright

Shortcuts could actually cost you more in the long run and commercial cleaning companies who just surface clean with ‘suction-only’ vacuum cleaners perform a grave disservice to their customers “if it looks clean then it must be clean”. Wrong.

Commercial Carpet Cleaning Equipment

To be able to implement a maintenance program access to the correct equipment is essential. Cleaning soft floor with incorrect, non-approved methods, equipment and chemicals may result in damage to the product and invalidation of the warranties.

So which commercial vacuums are best for carpet?

Indoor Air Quality Matters

Why indoor air quality matters to your health.

You might not think about it often, but the air you breathe indoors can be far more polluted than the air outdoors. Poor indoor air quality can lead to a host of problems, including respiratory disorders, allergy flare-ups, headaches, fatigue, and mental health issues. The results of poor indoor air quality is often referred to as “Sick Building Syndrome”.

Using a SEBO vacuum cleaner at work or home can contribute to positive Building Biology by removing harmful allergens (dust mites, mould, pets and pet dander) and improving indoor air quality (IAQ) not to mention also keep the soft floor furnishing looking great for many years to come.

How do SEBO Vacuums help Indoor Air Quality

Not only do our vacuum cleaners clean the floor but they also enhance the air.

Vacuums equipped with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration trap the dirt you can’t see, rather than sending allergens back into the air.

We Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

SEBO Sustainability – SEBO Australia does not manufacture, and as such the main priorities is reuse, recycle and reduce at our warehouse and office premises.

Wooden pallets are reused in the distribution system as well as supplied to other companies for use within their distribution system. Paper and cardboard is either shredded and used for packaging or recycled. Plastic including soft plastic is recycled and cartridges and batteries deposited at collection points. The paper stock used for office printing is recycled paper. Brochures, manuals and parts diagrams for servicing are available in digital format and can be printed by the end user if required. Staff are encouraged to have a positive environmental impact across all areas at work including the collection of food scraps for composting.

Even deliveries are carefully planned to ensure our vehicles are filled to capacity and are running as economically as possible.

SEBO Sustainability

SEBO’s are manufactured in Germany, using locally sourced materials and components, which already ensures a smaller carbon footprint, every SEBO vacuum cleaner is made to last. This not only reduces waste and uses fewer resources, it even saves customers money. What is really impressive is the lengths the company will go to ensure every single element of a vacuum’s construction makes a minimal impact on the environment. Not only is plastic recycled into new components, but the factory is completely self-sustaining with regards to electricity – and even makes contributions to the national grid when supply exceeds demand. A combined heat and power system recovers virtually 100% of its primary energy source; as well as producing the electricity required to run machinery, the warm air created by its generator is used to heat the warehouse while engine coolant is pumped through the office radiators.

Water resources are also conserved at the SEBO factory in Germany. Rainwater (aka brown water) is collected from the roof, then filtered and stored to be used in production and within the factory washrooms, saving the unnecessary use of treated drinking water. The factory and offices are designed to use natural light as much as possible, avoiding artificial lighting and the associated power consumption and working hours are scheduled to make use of daylight hours. This also creates a much better working environment. SEBO have a highly skilled and dedicated workforce and the management of SEBO are very aware of their social responsibility and the huge contribution the commitment and health of their staff make to the quality of SEBO products.

For SEBO sustainability, reducing the carbon footprint of a product starts in the initial design process. Part of the design brief is to ensure that they will pack into the smallest possible cartons and that the carton sizes ensure that the maximum number of machines will fit onto a pallet. Most packaging is made from unbleached recycled cardboard with waste paper from the offices being shredded and re-used for packing.

What you should know about Building Biology and how it affects you

We understand that Building Biology is the study how a man-made environment impacts your health.  Understanding Building Biology principles can help you create a healthier home and workplace using SEBO Vacuum Cleaners.

Indoor air quality and children
EPA studies show poor indoor air quality contributes to poor health and learning outcomes

SEBO vacuum cleaners support the Building Biology principles by:

1. Removing harmful allergens (house dust mites, mould, pet and pest dander)

Deep cleaning electric brush rollers that feature on the premium SEBO vacuum cleaner range remove maximum debris and allergens from carpets and hard floors.

Not all vacuum cleaners are the same. Tests conducted by CHOICE show SEBO vacuum cleaners can remove up to 92 percent of debris from carpets – far more than any other vacuum cleaner brand on the market.

Dust mite drop faeces

The S Class Filtration system captures house dust mites, pollen, mould spores, dust, pet and pest dander. The SEBO S-CLASS system will remove 100% of particles of 1 micron and above. Dust mite faeces are approx. 10 microns.

This method ensures that the fine dust particles and allergens stay in the closed vacuum cleaner system. Every SEBO bag has a convenient hygiene lid to seal the bag after it is full – no dust will escape.

2. Improving indoor air quality (IAQ)

Not only do our vacuum cleaners clean the floor but they also enhance the air.

Vacuums equipped with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration trap the dirt you can’t see, rather than sending allergens back into the air.

Cleanier air

European manufacturers use the term S-CLASS on their models.

Only high-quality filter material is used in combination with an excellent sealed vacuum cleaner casing achieve the requirements of SEBO S-CLASS filtration

The Sensitive Choice® blue butterfly symbol appears on products and services that may be a better choice for people with asthma or allergies.

SEBO is a proud partner of the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice® Program.

Bag or Bagless Vacuum

Bag technology has come a long way and, if you suffer from allergies, asthma or simply want a clean emptying process, look for a machine with micro-fibre high filtration vacuum bags which keep all the dust and allergy particles inside.

All SEBO vacuums are bagged technology – more hygienic!

Debris Collection and Disposal

Vacuum bags add another level of filtration – best for hygienic debris disposal

Vacuuming is a great way to improve indoor air quality. Choosing a machine which captures the debris in a filter bag will decrease the chances of dust blow back. The advantage of using is a filter bag is that it is disposable thus you don’t’ have to worry exposing yourself to the harmful dust.

Streak-free, water-less cleaning for wood floors

Polish and vacuum wood floors easily

There are many types of wood flooring. With a variety of finishes how does one go about correctly caring for wood floors? SEBO makes it easy with a wood floor polisher and vacuum cleaner all in one!

Hard or soft wood species, bamboo (although strictly this is a grass), solid wood or engineered composite ‘planks’, lacquered, oiled or waxed, raw wood can also be used, but a protective surface finish is necessary to maintain the floor quality and so raw wood is not covered by this guide.

Floor Polisher for wood

General care and maintenance of each type will be similar, a different approach only being required when restoration of the surface is required.

Sebo Parquet top

Soft wood – usually sanded and sealed floorboards – is much more prone to damage than hardwood and so will need more care and attention. However, as even hard woods like oak are susceptible to scratching and damage, no wood floor will remain pristine.

Check out SEBO’s specifically designed Parquet Floor Head.

Wood Floor finishes

There are three types of finish; polyurethane, oil and wax. Each is cleaned in a similar way, but how you restore the surface depends very much on which finish you have.

Polyurethane:

This is effectively a layer of plastic which protects and seals the wood. It is by far the most common sealant used today. Never apply oil or wax to polyurethane. For an optimum gloss surface use a polisher fitted with diamond pads.

Oil:

Osmo oil on parquet floors

The wood is impregnated with natural oils to give a water resistant finish. To maintain the finish re-apply the specified oil product.

For an optimum gloss surface use a polisher fitted with standard (in conjunction with further oil treatment or diamond pads).

Wax:

Sometimes considered a contentious treatment for hardwood floors, adding wax to your hardwood floor can improve its look relatively quickly. Wax is easy to clean and buff. It is also easy to add wax to continuously improve the look of your hardwood floor. However, an excessive build up wax may be difficult to remove. Also wax must never be put on an oiled or polyurethane surface. For an optimum gloss surface use a polisher fitted with standard pads.
